Fajans is an online auction platform for antiques, collectibles, art and jewelry, combining scheduled online auctions with a permanent fixed-price e-commerce store.
The business had previously operated through physical antique salons and third-party marketplaces. G-2 was engaged to design and develop a proprietary digital platform that would bring auctions, online sales, customer management and internal administration into a single system.a
G-2 developed the platform from scratch and has continued to support and evolve it since 2017.

Custom Auction Platform Architecture
The core engineering challenge was building a reliable real-time bidding system capable of handling significant traffic spikes during the closing minutes of an auction.
G-2 designed and developed the complete platform architecture, including:
Custom auction and bidding engine
Real-time bid processing
Automated proxy bidding
Anti-sniping auction extensions
Fixed-price e-commerce functionality
User accounts and bidding history
Custom administrative panel
Role-based access control (RBAC)
Auction and lot management
High-load infrastructure and performance optimisation
Under normal operation, the platform processes approximately 10,000–20,000 requests per hour with 2,000–4,000 active connections.
During peak auction periods, traffic can increase by 7–10×, reaching approximately 138,000 requests per hour and 15,500 simultaneous connections while maintaining stable bid processing.

Real-Time Bidding & Automated Auction Logic
The platform includes a custom automated bidding engine.
Users can define their maximum bid, while the system automatically increases the active bid by the minimum required increment whenever competing bids are received.
Bid increments dynamically scale according to lot value, allowing the same auction engine to support both lower-value collectibles and high-value art and jewelry.
G-2 also implemented an anti-sniping mechanism to ensure that auctions are determined by genuine bidding competition rather than connection speed or last-second bids.
When a new leading bid is received during the final 10 minutes of an auction, the closing time is automatically extended by another 10 minutes, giving other participants an opportunity to respond.
This logic allows the platform to maintain fair and consistent auction behaviour even during periods of intensive simultaneous bidding.
